The Americas Competitiveness Committees will meet in Santiago

Next September 29, Santiago will host the II Meeting of the Americas Competitiveness Committees, which will take place during the III Americas Competitiveness Forum, organized by the Ministry of the Economy, Promotion and Reconstruction of the Chilean Government.

The event is organized by the National Committee for Innovation in Competitiveness (CNIC) and hopes to bring together the maximum representatives of the hemisphere, from both private and public institutions, who will be challenged in the formulation of strategies and initiatives that will allow American nations to take a leap forward in terms of the innovation and competitiveness of their productive sectors. The CNIC has contacted representatives from over 30 countries that have Competitiveness Committees in the region. Representatives from Brazil, the United States, Venezuela and Uruguay have confirmed their assistance.

The meeting will be a place for sharing ideas, better practices and other relevant matters for these entities, which seek a sustainable, fair and dynamic development for the American nations. In that respect, one of the ideas that will be developed is the creation of a permanent network of the Competitiveness Committees. There will be displays of previous work in this area, during which any doubts, problems or solutions that have been adopted will be shared, so that each country can support and be supported by the other countries in the development of strategies.

The Competitiveness Committees Meeting will take place during the III Americas Competitiveness Forum, which will bring together governmental representatives, academics, international organizations and representatives from the private sector. The slogan of the Forum is “Competitiveness in Times of Crisis”, and seeks to identify elements and actions that will allow us to overcome this complex period.

The president of the Committee for Innovation for Competitiveness, Eduardo Bitran, spoke of the importance of the meeting, pointing out that “the economic development problems demand that we take a leap in the competitiveness of our economies and principal productive sectors. For that reason, it is satisfying to see that every day more countries develop institutions dedicated to thinking, proposing and promoting actions in this area, contributing from different angles, from both the private and public sector”. Therefore, the forum’s task is to make a productive contribution to these experiences.
