The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) has announced his presence in the event that will bring together public authorities, businesspeople and high level academics from the 34 countries of the region.
“Competitiveness in times of crisis” will be the slogan that brings together political leaders, businesspeople, academicians and experts from all the region in the III Americas Competitiveness Forum, which following two previous versions in Atlanta, USA, will take place in Santiago, Chile from September 27-29, 2009.
The Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza, has announced the support of the Organization in the important continental encounter. This support will be complemented by his own participation in the forum, speaking about topics that impact the competitiveness of countries and which have grown more crucial in the crisis setting, such as the challenge of combining economic growth and environmental protection, or ways of achieving the mass distribution of information technology, among other topics.
During the Progressive Leaders Summit which took place in Chile this year, Insulza highlighted the importance of international cooperation during the global economic crisis. His participation in the Americas Competitiveness Forum reflects the value and importance that this encounter will have as a business platform, as well as an opportunity to share perspectives about how to increase the competitiveness of the economies in the region.
