President Bachelet confirms she will attend the III Americas Competitiveness Forum Official Dinner
Two weeks before the event, President Michelle Bachelet confirmed she will be attending the Official Dinner of the third version of the Americas Competitiveness Forum, “Competitiveness in Times of Crisis”, which will take place at Espacio Riesco on September 28th, in Santiago, Chile.
The President will have an important role during the Forum, leading the Opening Plenary Session, “Politics and Economics in the Context of Crisis,” along with the President of Guatemala, Álvaro Colom, the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, and Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
This is the first time that the Americas Competitiveness Forum takes place outside the United States –its two previous versions took place in Atlanta, U.S.A.- and it is also the first time that the Secretary of Commerce of the United States, Gary Locke, visits Chile to speak in the Opening Ceremony.
More than 600 Chileans and foreign attendees are expected at the top level event, among them authorities, academics, regional leaders, businesspeople, and NGOs and multilateral organization representatives.
